DIETETICS TECHNICIAN – Kitchen (P-2324-0862F)

This is a Contract position in Montreal, QC posted November 2, 2024.

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
Person who adapts and verifies the menu of users and staff and performs all necessary compilations and reports. She visits users to gather information about their diet and provides the various stakeholders with the information required. She controls the preparation and serving of food. She guides the staff in putting work and hygiene techniques into practice. It develops, experiments, standardizes recipes and calculates the cost price. She participates in the qualitative and quantitative control of stocks according to the specifications established in the establishment.

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS
Under the supervision of the Coordinator of the Administrative Unit – Hospital Services, the dietetic technician collaborates in the planification, production and organization of the Chisasibi Hospital and Elder's home food services. She ensures the nutritional quality and food safety of the meals provided to clients. She also participates in the implementation of the Traditional Foods Program, including keeping registers, logs and yearly reporting.

Education:

  • Must have a diploma of collegial studies (DEC) in dietetics techniques from a school recognized by the competent ministry;
  • Must have a food safety and hygiene certification recognized by the MAPAQ (Ministère de L'Agriculture, des Pêcheries, de l'Alimentation du Québec), which is up to date and renewed.

Experience:

  • At least one (1) year of experience;
  • Two years of relevant experience is an asset;
  • Experience with First Nation or with cross-cultural work is an asset.

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Excellent knowledge of nutrition theory and practice, food services management, current trends, and the MSSS Network and regulations;
  • Varied clinical skills: geriatric, pediatric, dialysis; long-term care, home care, Meal on Wheels program;
  • Apply and monitor food safety and hygiene measures within food services;
  • Support the CBHSSJB Traditional Food Program register;
  • Knowledge of Cree culture and language, and social/health determinants in Eeyou Istchee is an asset;
  • Awareness of Eeyou/Eenou culture, values, traditions and teachings in food services is an asset;
  • Knowledge of Eenou/Eeyou Miyuupimaatisiun healing practices and paradigms is an asset;
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite computer applications;
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Excellent teamwork capabilities;
  • Interest in sharing knowledge and training with other workers;
  • Autonomous, flexible, discrete, respecting client and service confidentiality;
  • Excellent critical thinking, synthesis, organizational and decision-making skills.

Language:

  • Fluent in English;
  • Fluency in Cree or French is an asset.

Other:

  • Opportunity to work occasionally outside normal working hours to implement nutrition workshops and activities;
  • Work schedule is adapted to fit with meal preparation and serving time.
