Enterprise Data Governance is at the very core of all business operations and analytics considerations. The Data and Analytics Office at BRP is looking for its next superstar to join and lead Data Governance. This leader will be key in helping us continue our data journey and will report directly to the Director of Enterprise Information Management (EIM).
YOU’LL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:
- Oversee a team of data governance specialists responsible for a range of functions and capabilities, such as: drafting data strategies, frameworks, standards, policies; managing and advising on data privacy and protection, ownership/stewardship, councils, data governance platforms; and leading with best practices, roadmaps, maturity models and assessments.
- Understand the day to day of data governance roles and functions, for operations as well as project/initiative engagements.
- Managing stakeholders at any level of the organization and sustaining that engagement is key. You will liaise with the business to build out data governance to understand their requests while leading along a roadmap that is appropriate to the maturity level of the organization, its lines of business, business functions, and teams.
- Advise and empower our stakeholders with the skills, tools, processes and guidance to properly manage the organization’s data assets.
- Build out the data governance platform in this federated manner, providing our stakeholders with capabilities such as metadata management, data lineage and tagging, data catalogues, dictionaries, glossaries, and more.
- Operationalize, implement and support the relevant strategies, objectives, and standards of the data governance team.
- Manage activities, including goal setting, performance management, tracking deliverables, recruitment, administration, etc. for a team of up to 15 members.
- Lead employees through personal growth, development, and change.
- Build relationships with cross-functional colleagues to develop knowledge and awareness as a way of improving data quality and team relations.
- Deploy change management techniques to smoothly introduce change into your operational team and within the broader business.
- Govern data in line with policies and procedures to ensure the highest data quality, understanding the impact that data quality has on cross-functional business units.
- Develop a data quality strategy and framework.
- Define policies and standard operating procedures, and ensure they are applied and followed.
- Deploy data catalogue platforms and ensure they are maintained, used and of value to the organization.
- Lead KPI definitions and follow their implementation and adoption.
YOU’LL THRIVE IN THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES:
- A bachelor’s degree in technical, business or digital areas, or an equivalent combination of education and business-related work experience.
- 8+ years of total work experience in data management and governance as well as an understanding of how data affects business functions.
- 5+ years of experience working in complex data ecosystems with SAP or a similar ERP driving data governance.
- 5+ years of experience in people management.
- Certification from a recognized Data Governance association would be a strong asset.
- Experience with data privacy and protection, and artificial intelligence initiatives would be an asset.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in your work.
- Group training, public speaking and/or presentation skills.
