This is a Contract position in Montreal, QC posted September 12, 2024.

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
A person who is responsible for providing nursing care services according to the bio-psycho-social needs of users or groups under her/his care. She/he evaluates the health condition of users, as well as determines and implements nursing care and treatment plans. She/he provides nursing and medical care and treatment aimed at maintaining and restoring health, as well as preventing disease.

She/he plans, provides and evaluates teaching activities intended for the users, their relatives and groups of people. In addition, she/he participates in research activities aimed at promoting health and preventing disease.

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS* Assess over the phone the client calling their Community Miyupimasitiuun Centre (CMC) during the off hours; * Orient the client to the right resource in a timeframe suitable to the client conditions assess by the nurses and in agreement with the client; * Provide guidance for emergency measures if required; * Provide information and teaching to the client for self-care as required; * Collaborate with the nurse on call in the communities for the continuity of care.* Other related tasks

REQUIREMENTS
Education:

  • Member in good standing of the O.I.I.Q.

Experience:

  • Three (3) years of experience as a nurse in various settings including
    o Six (6) month of experience as a nurse in CMC
  • One (1) year of experience in a position in the CBHSSJB with on-call duty is an asset.

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of and experience with public and community health prevention and promotion related approaches, methods, issues and programming (and in First Nation contexts) being an asset;
  • Knowledge of Cree culture, and social/health issues in Eeyou Istchee is an asset;
  • Knowledge of Eenou/Eeyou Pimaatsiiun healing practices and paradigms is an asset;
  • Excellent critical thinking, organizational and decision-making skills;
  • Demonstrate independence, flexibility, and empathy.

LANGUAGE* Fluent in English;* Fluency in Cree or French is an asset.

OTHER* Night shifts of 8:00 pm to 8:00 am* Telework
