Participate in a range of nursing care activities in collaboration with the care team. Assess users' state of health and ensure implementation of the care plans, provide nursing and wellness support, as well as nursing and medical care and treatment to maintain health, restore health and prevent disease. Participate in teaching users and their relatives.
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS
The licensed practical nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing patient care and collaborating with nurses, beneficiary attendants, physicians and other health care professionals and various partners involved.
The LPN will engage in a range of nursing activities detailed below, using professional judgement in a humane, respectful and high-quality approach. He/she must ensure to work within his/her area of expertise in accordance with the laws and regulations governing the professional practice of LPNs.
She/he collaborates in the data collection relating to the patient's health history and, among other things, he/she measures patients' vital signs, prepares and administers medication, carries out the various treatments prescribed by the physicians, and helps provide basic care for hygiene and comfort. She/he contributes to the support of patients for ADLs.
The LPN carefully observes the behaviour and reactions of the patient. He/she must be attentive to and report any changes in the person's state of health and to transmit any relevant information on the person's state of health to the nurse and the care team and provide appropriate and effective care. She/he administers the treatments and medications resulting from the care plan according to the activities reserved for the licensed practical nurse.
