Homecare worker in West Island

Le service Oxili

This is a Contract position in Montreal, QC posted November 3, 2024.

West Island (Montreal)

We are currently looking for people to work in homes to provide services in the West of the Island of Montreal (Dorval, Dollard-Des-Ormeaux, Pointe-Claire, Kirkland, Beaconsfield, Pierrefonds- Roxborro, Sainte-Anne-De-Bellevue, Baie D’Urfé, Senneville, L’Île-Bizard- Sainte-Geneviève).

You should be available either during the day, at night and/or during the weekend.

We are looking for candidates who can provide care for people with a motor disability, families with children with a motor and/or intellectual deficiency or people over 65 with diminishing autonomy.

The person will perform various tasks relating to daily activities:

  • comfort and hygiene care
  • dressing-undressing
  • manual and lever transfers
  • assistance with nutrition and elimination
  • installing orthotic devices, etc.
  • babysitting, respite for the family

and/or to activities of domestic life:

  • meal preparation
  • cleaning
  • laundry
  • civic support
  • grocery shopping, running errands, etc.

and/or to civic and human support

  • Organizational, moral and educational support to foster autonomy.
  • Ensure a human presence/monitoring for the Selfmanager (the user) in the absence of their family or their caregiver.
  • Perform any other related task at the request of the Selfmanager, the family or caregiver.

The hired attendants are paid through the Service Employment Paycheque Processing Center, in partnership with the Caisses Populaires Desjardins.

The Service Oxili offers support and pairing between people registered* on our reference list and people in need of home support who wish to manage their services themselves through the direct allowance (Chèque-emploi service – CES). The number of hours is allocated by the CLSC’s patient navigator nurse.

The Oxili service is free, offered in French and English on the territory of the Island of Montreal and is intended for people with a motor disability, families with children with a motor and/or intellectual deficiency or people over 65 with diminishing autonomy.

* There are homecare attendants/orderlies, home and social aids as well as workers trained to offer home support on our list.

Requirements:
You have training relating to the job, for example:

  • Diploma of vocational studies (DVS) in Institutional and Home Care Assistance (IHCA)
  • Diploma of vocational studies (DVS) in Home Care Assistance (HCA)
  • Having completed a first year of the college diploma in nursing
  • Having completed a first year of the bachelor’s degree of science in nursing
  • Having completed six months of the diploma of vocational studies (DVS) in health, assistance and nursing
  • Relevant experience with the target group

AND

  • Have valid PDSB and CPR cards!
  • Do you speak French or English or are you bilingual? Or do you also speak Spanish, Italian, Greek?
  • Are you a respectful, resourceful, calm, empathetic, reliable, punctual person who encourages autonomy?
