A career as a Portfolio Manager within the UMA team in Wealth Management at National Bank Financial (NBF) means acting as a portfolio management specialist in the UMA turnkey solution. It is through your skills in managing client accounts, your experience, and your knowledge of portfolio management best practices that you will positively impact portfolio performance, the client experience, and those who entrust us with their investments.
Your role:
- Contribute to the development and improvement of the UMA platform and UMA management mandates
- Participate in the UMA investment committee
- Adjust and trade models when necessary
- Coach senior analysts and serve as a resource for them
- Resolve various issues and problems encountered by platform users
- Execute and/or supervise programs for the purchase and sale of securities, private funds, etc., to align portfolios with their investment policies
- Ensure effective communication for advisors regarding portfolio integration progress or other operations on the UMA platform
- Identify operational issues, formulate recommendations to resolve them, and implement solutions
Your team:
Within the UMA program, you will be part of a team of 14 colleagues and report to the Head Portfolio Manager at NBF. Our team stands out for its expertise in portfolio management and the satisfaction of investment advisors who use our investment solutions.

Prerequisites:
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in finance or a related discipline
- Six (6) years of relevant experience
- Completion of the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) and the Conduct and Practices Handbook (CPH)
- Possession of CFA or CIM certification
- Excellent knowledge of financial markets and the financial advisory industry for individuals
- Familiarity with National Bank's products, systems, and services is desirable
- Proficiency in the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Strong analytical and synthesis skills
- Demonstrate curiosity, creativity, and proactivity
- High level of autonomy and initiative
- Ability to work under pressure and in a team
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Inclination to provide fast and efficient service
- Strong communication and writing skills in both languages
